Physical geography and biogeography
Special course for Bachelor studies in Geography
(Spring 2010, course block II)

Aims:
To give the students insight in the physical environment of the earth, its processes and development and the interaction with the biological system besides the relation between theory, method and empiri.
Content:
The course has theoretical parts on climate, plate tectonics, soils, biogeography, ecology, geomorphology, hydrology, environmental monitoring and management. The course also includes field work and laboratory work.

Form of lessons:
The course is organized as 24 lectures of 3 hours with a combination of teacher introduction, and field and laboratory work.
Work form:
Lectures, filed work, laboratory work and exercises.
Fulfilment of aims:
Four written reports during the course, participation in fieldwork and laboratory work, individual written examination.
Criteria for evaluation:
The assignments must be properly answered and punctual handed in. Not-properly answered assignments can be corrected and handed in again after appointment with the teacher. Obligatory participation in field work and laboratory work. Properly answers in an individual written examination.
